Special Adviser To Governor Seriake Dickson Kidnapped

Less than 24 hours after Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa declared his re-election
campaign on Tuesday at the state capital, his special adviser Political matters,
Fyneman Wilson was kidnapped in the early hours of Wednesday.
SaharaReporters gathered that Wilson was kidnapped in Sagbama Local Government
Area of Bayelsa, where the governor also hails from.
Police Public Relations Officer for Bayelsa Command, Asinim Butswat, confirmed
receiving the report of the kidnap incident but said that details were still ‘sketchy’ and
pledged to provide details as soon as they were available..
It will be recalled that Independent National Electoral Commission had last Saturday
lifted the embargo on campaign activities for the December 5, governorship polls in the
state.
It was gathered that the kidnap of the Special Adviser may be due to funds earmarked
for the re-election rally as there were indication that those enlisted to procure the crowd
that attended the governor’s rally were allegedly shortchanged.
Several kidnap incidents had occurred in quick successions within the past few weeks
including the abduction of three monarchs who are still held by kidnappers.
