CCT Vs SARAKI Sack Ekweremadu Or You Go - APC Tells Saraki

Sources said the failure of President Buhari to invite Saraki to the
Presidential Villa in the last four months was a clear show that the
president was not working with the Senate President.

A source in the know said some leaders had decided to reach out to
former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and former governor of Lagos
State, Senator Bola Tinubu, for a lasting solution to the crisis.
“There is a two-way arrangement aimed at saving Saraki on the table.
One is the move from the House in search of political solution. The
second is an initiative of some leaders who have decided to involve
Obasanjo and Tinubu.
“The second group also plans to ensure the duo of Obasanjo and Tinubu
reach out to President Buhari for his proposal on the lasting solution,” a
source said.
It was gathered that some options were already being put forward,
including a possible reconfiguration of the leadership structure of the
Senate in a way that would accommodate the party’s interest.
It was learnt that the political solution might work in the case of Saraki, in
view of the ruling of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in the case of
Tinubu, which nullified the suit for failure of the Code of Conduct Bureau
to intimate the former governor of any complaints to his CCB forms
before instituting the trial.
“The CCB trial is being threatened due to its earlier ruling on Tinubu, which
fits the Saraki case. But the system is still angry and the alternative out
there is to get Saraki to the negotiating table to give one thing for his
safety,” another source said.
A source, however, said one source of Buhari’s problem with Saraki was
the involvement of Senator Ike Ekweremadu in the leadership structure.
Though some leaders were said to have explained to the president that
the involvement of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the running of
the Senate could engender stability, it was gathered that the APC
hierarchy and Buhari were particularly unhappy with the choice of
Ekweremadu.
It was said on Thursday that if Saraki could not come up with how to
handle the Ekweremadu angle, the APC might have to device a means of
dealing with the man, as he was said to have played leading roles in
undermining the party in the build-up to the 2015 election.
“I can tell you that the barrage of issues might be raised against
Ekweremadu shortly if the relevant stakeholders cannot provide the way
out in a number of days.
“The APC wants Ike Ekweremadu out of office if Saraki will not go and the
job has been left for Saraki to handle. It is either the two of them or the
PDP man is sacrificed,” a source said.
