potentials, the Abia State government said it is organising a development summit
from January 13 to 15, 2016, in Aba, the state’s commercial nerve.

The Aba Urban Development Summit, which is the first to be held in the state, is
expected to have in attendance CEOs of banks, foreign government emissaries,
captains of industry, development partners and other stakeholders. In a letter
signed by the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, the summit “is in line with one of

sustainable and all-inclusive development in Abia State. Aba, as the commercial

in other parts of the state.”
The summit, which is being organised in partnership with the Ford Foundation,
seeks to “convene key policy makers, social, economic and technical experts and
investors and entrepreneurs to discuss the key priorities and levers for unlocking
the full potentials of Aba.”
Not only that, the summit, according to the governor’s letter, is also expected to
“showcase opportunities for the private sector and development community to
partner Aba in particular and Abia more broadly to invest in the infrastructure,
power, agriculture, manufacturing and services sectors.”
