The first casualty of the agitation by a section of the Nigerian populace majorly in the Eastern part has hit the richest Blackman on earth Aliko Dangote this afternoon, eyewitness reports.
The protest by Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, resurfaced this week after the consultation and parley by the five governors of the region collapsed after the leadership of the protesters rejected the resolution of the meetings held last week which is yet to be presented to President Buhari who just returned from oversea trip.
This afternoon in Onitsha as the mammoth crowd of Biafra protesters mainly youths of about 16-35 sighted a long lorry of Dangote products approaching, they stopped the vehicle and at slightest provocation set the five lorry on fire.
The spokesman of the group is yet to make a statement on this new development which is against the peaceful protest that has characterized the agitation since it's inception.
All shops, banks, roads and Public activities have been shut down.
Meanwhile, a Senator representing Zamfara state and former governor has backed the agitation by the people of the region calling on President Buhari to call for referendum and let them go. According to him, "the agitation by the people in that region is legitimate, the best option is to call for a referendum and if voted yes, allow them go. You can't force any part of the country on Nigeria" he quipped.
