President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to engage all members of the House of
Representatives elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in a crucial meeting on Monday.
The meeting which is coming a day ahead of the resumption of the two chambers of
the National Assembly is meant to formally put an end to the leadership crisis rocking
the House.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba
Shehu, confirmed the meeting to State House correspondents on Sunday.
According to Shehu, the meeting would hold at the new Banquet Hall of the Presidential
Villa, Abuja, by 5pm.
“President Muhammadu Buhari will be meeting with the APC members of the House of
Representatives at the new Banquet Hall of the State House on Monday at 5pm,” he
simply said.
The Presidential spokesman did not disclose the agenda of the meeting.
The Monday meeting will be the first time the President will be meeting all APC
members in the House together.
It will be recalled that he had earlier met separately with groups loyal to the Speaker,
Yakubu Dogara; and a former Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The President also met with Gbajabiamila for the second time on Friday.
The Monday meeting was apparently called to ensure that there is no repeat of the
rancorous situation witnessed on the floor of the House shortly before it adjourned.
Dogara and Gbajabiamila are expected to lead members of their different factions to
the meeting.
It was not clear at press time whether the leadership of the APC will be represented at
the meeting.
