Sonette Ehlers displays Rapex
“If only I had teeth down there , ” was how a rape victim narrated her ordeal to a South African medical technician named Sonette Ehlers.
And since necessity is the mother of invention , Ehlers has provided women with “teeth down there ” ( a device ) that will enable women fight rapists back.
Rapex
According to KCCN FM 100 , Ehlers created a product she called Rapex . It resembles a tube , with barbs inside . The woman inserts it like a tampon and any man who tries to rape the woman “impales himself on the barbs and must go to an emergency room to have the Rapex removed . ”
However, some critics say this is a medieval punishment .
